Sketch of the Week

Sketching in Paris

Map of Paris

I think this is where I was drawing, I'm looking for the drawing but I cannot find it just yet. Sorry. It was on the Ile Saint Louis, right about where that red circle is, on this wall in the photo below. My back leaning against a lamppost.

I'm pretty blissed out, right? I mean: I'm an artist, sketching in Paris, the Notre Dame behind me, the Seine in front of me, it's November, the trees are turning yellow and gold...Life is, for the moment, good. Slowly I become aware that my rear end is getting pretty cold. So I finish the drawing, and I get up and realize that not only is my seat cold, but I am chilled throughout my whole body.

So I realize I've got to get moving, and pronto, get my blood circulating, burn some calories. So I decide to go to the west end of the Ile de la Cite, because I read in the tour book how it was a swampy area for a long time till someone decided to fancy it up, which I found intriguing. So go for a brisk walk. I passed some interesting architecture on the way, which I'd show you, but I cannot find the photos.

Sketching in Paris

That's where this sketch was done. I like it. Maybe I can make a woodcut from it.
